RSPL buyer guide: DORB, rice polish or full-fat bran? They are not the same ingredient. Know what your quotation includes.

DORB vs Rice Polish vs Full-Fat Rice Bran: What Feed Buyers Must Compare Before Ordering

These names are often used loosely in the market, but they do not describe the same ingredient. A buyer who compares only the rate per bag can end up comparing different oil levels, storage behaviour and formulation roles.

Start with the processing route

Rice bran is the nutrient-rich layer separated during rice milling. Full-fat rice bran still contains its natural oil. DORB is the solid material left after oil extraction. Rice polish is a market term that can vary by source and should never be accepted without a clear specification.

Compare these six points

  1. Exact product name and process description.
  2. Batch-specific protein, fibre, moisture, ash and sand-silica/AIA results.
  3. Residual oil and expected storage condition.
  4. Smell and free-flowing physical condition.
  5. Lot identification linking report to delivery.
  6. Diet purpose and the ingredient it complements.

Buy a specification, not a name

For DORB, an attractive protein figure is incomplete unless it is read alongside fibre, mineral contamination and moisture. Ask a qualified nutritionist to evaluate the complete ration rather than substituting ingredients one-for-one. RSPL supports informed comparisons because good suppliers are not afraid of educated buyers.
